A visit to Klagenfurt: Shoe Challenge No.60

Shoe ChallengeShoes: 31 Soins de mode
Worn with: Top by H&M, skirt by D&G, bag by Armani.

While my fiancé was here, we visited my dad in Austria. Together, we made a day trip to Klagenfurt, another small but very nice city! On the way, we stopped at Maria Wörth, a beautiful church at the lake Wörthersee. They just had a wedding there, so the church was even decorated – such a beautiful place to marry! From the church, you have a great view of the lake and surrounding landscape.

In Klagenfurt, we just walked around the city center, which has lots of pretty old buildings. I just love cities like this!

A nice place to visit is also the fountain called “Lindwurmbrunnen”. I love the way the guy is sneakily holding the bludgeon behind his back, and the dragon just looks very cute…..

The shoes which I wore for the day were another pair I had left in Japan, which my fiancé had brought to Germany for me. Sadly, in the hot weather they became kind of tight after a while – I guess I still need to wear them in! I chose these because their shape reminded me of the Louis Vuitton shoes from that season, and because they are a very practical pair for bad weather days:

I’ve written about these shoes on here quite a while back, and actually I ended up buying a pair for myself – oops! But, I don’t regret it, as they’re comfortable and versatile and rain-proof (something most of my shoes are not, unfortunately!) which is good for German weather! I think this was the first day I went to Munich with my fiancé, just for a quick walk and a coffee. In the background you can see the Nationaltheater Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, which was just at the time decorated for the Münchner Operfestspiele (Munich Opera Festival).

Just a quick outfit to go to the garden store. This is another pair of shoes I bought it Japan, even though they’re from Nine West. Recently I read that this pair is a “copy” from Christian Louboutin, but I wasn’t aware of that when I bought them – I just loved the combination of orange and pink 🙂 I still love them anyway – even though they are yet another good-weather-only pair of shoes!

Esperanza Sandals
Yesterday I saved these cute sandals, another pair by one of my favourite brands, Esperanza. When I first saw them, I was immediately reminded of a certain pair of Marc Jacobs shoes I had wanted but which were sadly too expensive – so of course I couldn’t resist them! Actually, they looked a bit different when I bought them, since they had a slingback with a kind of mary-jane like strap (I only found a picture of the black version):

昨日はこの可愛いサンダルを「救出」しました。この靴も大好きなブランド「エスペランザ」の靴です。初めて見かけた時に、すぐにずっと前から欲しくて、高くて買えなかったマーク・ジェイコブズの靴を思い出しました。もちろんこのシューズを買ってしまいました!

Esperanza heart-heel Sandals
Well, I thought there was a bit too much going on, distracting from the heel shape….so when I got home, I just cut off those straps and now, with the heart heel clearly visible, I like them even more 🙂 Here’s how I wore them:

ストラップが多すぎてヒールの形がちゃんとみえないと思って。。。家に帰ったらストラップを切りました。今はハート形がよくみれるようになって、もっと好きになりました 🙂 このコーデーにあわせました:

This outfit is nearly all Japanese: Apart from the top and belt, everything is from Japan – not a good place to be if you want to save money! One more picture without jacket, since right now it’s a bit too warm for that here:

このコーデーは日本風です:ベルトとTシャツ以外は全部日本で買いました。貯金したいときは日本にいないほうがいいですね!今は天気がよくてジャケットなしでも大丈夫だから、写真をもう一枚撮りました:

Right now, I’m hooked on the belt knot – again, you can find the how-to at the blog cute and little!

Alexander Mc Queen DIY

Today I saw my favourite shoes on Shoeperwoman: The Spring/ Summer 2011 Sarah Burton for Alexander Mc Queen  shoes. They are truly fabulous! Here they are in white:

I was in love with these the moment I saw them on my screen some months ago…..as so often, they are unattainable – as much as I looked, I didn’t have some unneeded 3,000 USD lying around! So, what’s a girl in love to do? …crazy as I am, I decided to try a DIY, and here’s the end result:
この靴は私にとって一目惚れでした。。。よくあることですが、とても手の届かない値段でした – いくらさがしても、いらない3,000ドルを見つかりませんでした!それで、愛におちてる女はどうすればいいのか?。。。ちょっとクレイジーな私はDIYでもしようかなーと思いました。そのアイディアの結果はこちらです:

I know they’re not the same, but considering they’re handmade, I’m pretty satisfied with them….and here’s how I made them:
まったく同じではないということは分かっているが、手作りだと思うとかなり満足しています。。。このように作りました:

As a base I took this unused pair of “stripper” style shoes (bought long ago on a holiday for fun….):
ベースとしては使わなかった”ストリッパー・スタイル”の靴(何年まえに旅行中に買ってしまった。。。)を使いました:

Stripper Platform shoe

And then I used the following items to make the leaf-like decoration and butterfly on the shoe: Cardboard, acrylic paint, and copic markers for the butterfly. Aluminium foil, acrylic paste and acrylic paint for the leaf-shapes.

Alexander Mc Queen shoe DIY

First, I made a white sole with rubber foam and fabric which I glued to the shoe, also attaching the back part. Then, I used velvet ribbon and glued it to the plastic upper to create the “straps”. Over that I painted the acrylic paste using layers to create depth. Mostly I made a basic shape from aluminium foil and then used acrylic paste to attach it to the shoe and cover it as well as create a structure. I did the detailed structure with acrylic paint.

After that I sewed on the rest of the straps: the ankle and t-bar strap. And finally I sewed on the butterfly.

And this is how they look like when worn:

All in all, they’re of course not the same thing as the original – I also changed the shape to fit my base shoe – but I like them! I have no idea how much wear they would withstand….I guess they’re definitely not made for walking on cobblestone roads, but they should be fine for an indoors party or a similar event! What do you think?

Patent Wedges – D&G and Flag-J

Finally these gorgeous wedges by D&G are available on their online shop! I’ve seen them in the shop recently and wanted to show them to you since then. To me, they’re a perfect summer shoe. They’re available in purple and green:

Sadly, at 445 € they’re quite expensive! If you want them anyway, click here.

If you’re looking for a similar shoe with a more budget-friendly price, these wedges by Flag-J are a perfect alternative. They also have patent uppers and a very similar woven heel to the D&G shoes, but the shape is different enough not to be called a copy. Apart from pink and green, they’re also available in red, beige and black. And for the price of 7,110 Yen (approx. 62€) they’re definitely budget friendly! Miu Miu inspired polka dot sandals

R&E polka dot sandal

Just a quick shoe post for today! Lately, I’ve spent much more time looking at Excel-sheets than at beautiful shoes, and this will probably continue for a while – *sigh!*…. anyway, these cute polka dot sandals are by the Japanese brand R&E and they are obviously inspired by Miu Miu: The gorgeous originals have been featured on Shoeperwoman. The shape, though not as elegant as the original, is probably as close as it gets, and the pattern is very similar too, although R&E’s dots are fewer and bigger. The red version is most similar to the Miu Miu shoes, which are also available in red, while I haven’t seen any blue ones by Miu Miu. All in all, at 6,195 Yen ( approx. 53€) they’re are good budget-friendly alternative – if you like them, you should act quickly though, because there’s only a few pairs left. Click here to buy them at 109’s online store!

Shoe Challenge No.20

Wow! This is already my 20th Shoe Challenge! If I continue at this pace, hopefully I can save all my beloved shoes! The weather forecast said today was the last nice and warm day of the week, so I decided on saving one of those many strictly good-weather-only-shoes…one the one hand, I’m sad the weather will be colder again, but then again the rain will wash all the horrible pollen out of the air – I’ve already had hay fever the last few days!!!

Shoes One Miu Miu LookalikeShoes: Shoes One
Worn with: Jeans by Seven, top by H&M, cardigan by H&M, bag by Prada.

Let me say at first, in case you’re wondering: No, these shoes are not the real Miu Miu ones (unfortunately!). I know, I know, copies are not good, but since I couldn’t get my hands on a real pair anywhere and wanted needed these too much, I couldn’t resist when I read about this “alternative” on the two blogs  Shoe Daydreams (contra) and Pink Haired Princess (pro). On this matter, I agree with Pink Haired Princess: The label in the shoes says Shoes One, so while the design is 100% copied and cannot be called “inspired by”, they’re at least not trying to pass off as real Miu Miu’s, and I also would tell anyone who asks me they aren’t real ones. Well, everyone has to decide for themselves on this matter! I just think brands should stop producing so super-limited quantities of items that popular!

Shoes One Miu Miu Lookalikes

With this topic out of the way, on to the outfit! I decided to pair them with a simple outfit so they would really stand out … and stand out they did! I couldn’t even count how many people turned around to stare at them. As many people here tend to wear simple or sensible shoes or just plain sneakers they must have been quite a sight, even though they are not the craziest pair in my collection 😉  Maybe, hopefully it will inspire more people here to wear different shoes!

And last but not least, some pictures of another decorated rollcake (actually from yesterday, but I wasn’t wearing any shoes then – just relaxing in the garden!) . This time I made it 100% Japanese style following the book instructions – the time before I had used the ordinary German rollcake recipe – and it turned out really nice. I want to make another one soon!

It was filled with cream, strawberries and blueberries  – so it was really healthy (at least a little bit 😉 )

Sophia Grace Webster Butterfly Shoe DIY

Sophia Grace Webster Butterfly Shoe

A while back I saw these stunning peeptoes by Sophia Grace Webster on Shoeperwoman and it was love at first sight….unfortunately, as so many designer shoes, they were far too expensive for me (they are available at Browns for £505). But then I thought that these could easily be recreated using a black peeptoe and DIYing a butterfly shoe clip. So, when I had some free time I just gave it a try, and I think they turned out quite well. I clipped them to two different pairs (I didn’t have a plain black one with a high enough heel so they aren’t my optimal choice) for taking pictures. What do you think?

If you’d like to make a pair for yourself, here’s how to:

First, draw the butterfly shape on a piece of paper, then cut it out.

Sophia Grace Webster DIY

Then, using the paper shape, draw four outlines onto a thicker material, like foam rubber, and cut it out using scissors and a cutter.

Sophia Grace Webster DIY

Then paint the wings using acrylic paint in black. After that, fix them to a shoe clip or paper clip (I used a paper clip, because i can bend it to adjust it to different shoes and it won’t rub the back of my foot as much) by sewing or glueing them on. Use a small piece of rubber foam to glue between the two wings to hide the clip underneath. Then use acrylic paste to create a smooth connection between the two wings if you like to and after drying, paint the “bridge” black as well. Finally use some sort of laquer (clear nail polish is fine) to give them shine.

Shoe Challenge No.3

For today’s shoe challenge, I picked these Louboutinesque booties I bought a while ago while on holiday in Hong Kong. These are also really high, but OK to walk in if you’re used to high heels & platforms.

After lots of rain yesterday evening, we had sunshine again today, so I went for a walk around Daikanyama with my BF.  We had some nice coffee and a great cheesecake with berries at the Mermaid Cafe.  I also discovered a great shop which offers cake decoration lessons. As baking is another passion of mine,  I hope I can at least take one lesson before I have to go home again!
