Oktoberfest: Shoe Challenge No.65

Shoe ChallengeShoes: Guess
Worn with: Dirndl, bag by Prada, headband by H&M, brooch by Lanvin x H&M.

Living in Munich, I couldn’t let the Oktoberfest pass without going at least once, so I took a mini-break from writing my graduation paper and spent the afternoon at the Oktoberfest. We had a nice lunch, rode on the big ferris wheel and visited the performance at “Auf geht’s beim Schichtl“, the oldest theatre at the Okotberfest. Here’s the view from the ferris wheel:

Of course, I also got a nice Lebkuchen-Heart – I look forward to them every year:

The Shoe Stalker: Shoe Challenge No.63

Jimmy Choo Sandals

This is the second of the two pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes I own. I’ve bought them some years ago, while I was still in high school. But I still remember literally stalking them for a long time before I finally bought them! Actually this style was sold in two stores in Munich, and I fell instantly in love when I first saw them. But of course, they were way to expensive for me. So I waited….and waited…and waited until sales time, and during all that waiting I often went to the shops to see if they were still there – a real shoe stalker! When sale finally arrived, they were still there – but still too expensive. So I waited some more. And got lucky: After the last round of price reductions, they were at an okay price and there was still this one pair left for me and I could finally take them home 🙂 So after all the trouble to get these, of course I had to save them too (also before summer ends…! Here’s my outfit (the wind blew my hair in my face in every single picture…):

Gourmet Day: Shoe Challenge No.62

Shortly after my fiancé arrived, we went for a lunch with friends at the wonderful restaurant of star cook Heinz Winkler – Even though I love good food it’s been the first time for me to go to such a restaurant, and a great experience! The weather was great, so we could sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. Here are the pictures of the menu I chose:

My favourite was, of course, the dessert – but that’s just because I’m a dessert addict! I chose the Crêpes with Grand Marnier for dessert, and didn’t regret it, though the other dessert was really nice too (I stole a bite from my fiancé – but he’s not that into sweets anyway 😉 ) But the best part was that two extra “desserts” were included – the assortment in the picture above the crêpes for two to share and a praline of your choice….I had a hard time choosing!

So, finally on to the Shoe Challenge:

The shoes are actually my mom’s but I wear them a lot too – lucky we have the same size! I was my mom’s “shopping assistant” for these, and with my help she finally found a pair of wedges she liked. These shoes I love for their special heel, and the beautiful bow in the front:

A day in Salzburg: Shoe Challenge No.58

When my fiancé and family were visiting, we made a day trip to one of the most beautiful cities round here, Salzburg in Austria. You can easily go to Salzburg from Munich by train in just two hours. The city center is relatively small and it’s possible to see most of it in one day. We were lucky and had the best possible weather and a clear sky for a good view! Our first stop was the Mirabell Castle, which has the most beautiful park and a view of the other castle up on the hill:

Schloß Mirabell

Next we made a lunch break at the Café in Hotel Stein. It is my personal tip if you go to Salzburg, because it definitely has the best view of the old city center, the castle and river all in one. If it’s good weather, you can sit outside, but even from inside the view is beautiful:

My lunch was a pancake with jam and cream (very healthy for sure…), which was delicious!

Palatschinken

The Café also offered a nice location for a Shoe Challenge picture – finally something different from the usual pictures at home! Since we had a day full of walking planned and it was really hot, I opted for flats:

Later, we visited the graveyard which contains the grave of Mozart’s wife. It may sound strange to go sightseeing to a graveyard, but the two big ones in Salzburg are unlike “normal” graveyards and have lots and lots of old, elaborately decorated graves. My “favourite” one is the one covered in vines, pictured below, which looks like it belongs in a fantasy movie – maybe King Arthur’s grave or something like that:

Another curious one I saw was this one featuring a skeleton and a text saying: “Human! What you are now I have been, and what I am now you will be too.” True but kind of scary!

After a day of walking, my feet were super tired…….

Last tip for Salzburg: Take a look inside the wonderful Chocolate shop “Braun” (Judengasse 1, A-5020 Salzburg) – they have a great selection. My personal favourite is the rose petal covered dark chocolate by Bachhalm, handmade in Austria.

Barbie Pink: Shoe Challenge No.55

Esperanza SandalsShoes: Esperanza
Worn with: Dress by ?, camisole by Zara, bag by Samantha Thavasa.

That day I just went shopping for souvenirs with my fiancé – he bought so much Haribo he ended up carrying a backback filled almost entirely with that! We had super hot weather, so I decided on something light to wear – a dress I bought on a nightmarket in Bangkok quite a few years ago. And, to save another pair of shoes as well I chose these Sandals from my Esperanza “collection” (I have to count how many shoes of that brand I have…) to complete this all pink outfit…living up to one of my nicknames, ‘Barbie’ 🙂 This Sandal I bought just for the gorgeous heel:

Esperanza Sandals

As you can see, they have a clip-on crystal encrusted rose, which is missing in the outfit picture as we were in a hurry to catch the train and I couldn’t find them….. I love how they paid attention even to the design of the insole, with a glittery heart at the back part and another heart shaped by the cut and stitching at the front!

Can a shoe get any more kitsch than this?

Back again! Shoe Challenge 54

Finally I’ve made it back to blogging! Sorry for being MIA without notice! The last few weeks were pretty crazy for me, I hardly had time to read my e-mail, let alone blog. My fiancé and, for one week also nearly his entire family visited us here, so I’ve been their tourguide and in my “spare” time working on my graduation report. Even though he left just on Monday, it already feels like ages ago and the whole time just feels like it’s gone by on fast-forward. Now we’re back to skyping and I’m back to working on my uni stuff only and pretty stressed out because of the deadline coming closer and closer. I did not forget to take pictures though – and even managed to rescue some more pairs. So, where to start? Well, I’m going to start with a simple post, my outfit of bringing my fiancé to the airport. Here it is, taken at the airport:

Pool Side SandalsShoes: Pool Side
Worn with: Top and belt by Laurèl, skirt by H&M, bag by Miu Miu.

It always feels weird going to the airport when I’m not going somewhere myself somehow – and I hate saying good-bye! After spending one month together I was sad to see him go back to Japan again – I really hope he can come again soon, since I’m not able to go until I’ve finished uni….

The shoes I wore are a pair of sandals I bought some years ago in Japan, from the brand Pool Side. They were just right for the super hot and humid weather we’ve had here lately!

I’ll be posting pictures of our trips around Germany/Austria and Slovenia in the next days and I’ve also got a great, super-crazy pair of new shoes to show – no more long blogging-pauses! I have decided though to take a break from writing in Japanese, since it takes too much time right now – I need every minute for uni-stuff! I’ll resume it once I’ve graduated  – hopefully soon 🙂

I’m back to the shoe challenge after a kind of long absence! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m currently writing my Magisterarbeit (graduation paper) for university and we’re also renovating a lot in our home, so I was really really busy and tired. This week, my fiancé also came from Japan – luckily he’ll stay for quite a while because we haven’t seen each other for some time 🙂 But I’ll try to do the challenges more regularly again – after all, I’m planning on saving all my beloved shoes! I’ve got some more to save now, too, since my fiancé brought some of the pairs I had left behind (full suitcase…) with him. Anyway, here’s one of last week’s outfits – at least I did take pictures even when I didn’t post them right away! These shoes are by the Italian brand Casadei, and I got them on sale from Yoox. I had originally wanted a different style from that collection, but sadly that didn’t ever get reduced to an affordable price, so this is the pair I decided on in the end. I really love these shoes – I don’t think they’re pretty, I just like their strangeness. To me, the heels look like some kind of devil’s horns 🙂 They are really high as well, but are still fine to walk in….
