Inspiration Monday: Autumn already?

Finally I managed to take part in the Inspiration Monday challenge at Two Birds again! This week’s inspiration is the lovely Maggie Gyllenhaal, dressed in a maxi dress combined with a black blazer and brown bag:

Well, I’ve got a single maxi dress, and that’s pink and summery….so, looking at the weather, which has turned from a beautiful late summer to cold and dreary autumn in the last few days, I decided to let the colour palette of her outfit inspire me. The dress I immediately thought of after seeing this picture is a recent purchase from H&M, which I combined with black tights and booties (yes, it was that cold today! I can’t believe I was wearing sandals just a few days ago….)  and a black cardigan. I added the bag for a pop of colour. So here it is, my take on Maggie’s outfit:

This is my outfit from Wednesday. The shoes I bought on sale at H&M quite some time ago – I like the colour even though the shape is nothing special. Different from my usual strategy, I didn’t coordinate my outfit to my shoes – this time the starting point was the skirt – because in this picture I’m wearing my new favourite skirt. My love affair with it started some months ago when, while window-shopping in Munich,  I foolishly went into the D&G store, enticed by the gorgeous shoes in the window (bad, bad idea!) and saw the skirt. Even more foolishly, I made the mistake of trying it on, falling even more in love (note to self: Never try on too expensive things!!)….so there I was, longing for this skirt, passing by the store and looking in the window to see if it was still there, waiting for the sale and hoping my size would still be there then, and it would be at some price I could somehow justify to myself…….and then last Friday, when I was going for a drink with my friends,  we passed the D&G store on our way to the bar and finally I saw the shop assistants putting up the long awaited signs in the window. Needless to say, I was there quite early the next day, and now it’s finally mine and I have to stop myself from wearing it every day 🙂

Finally I got to wear my beloved pumps from the Lanvin x H&M collection. The reviews of this collection were pretty mixed on the internet, but I must say that I really adored it, being a lover of cocktail dresses and crazy shoes! When it came out, I was in Japan, where everything was like double the price from Germany, so after just looking at the shoes in Shibuya’s H&M (where my size wasn’t left anyway since I’m not a fan of getting up early and queuing up endlessly) I ordered not one, but two pairs (the other ones are the flowery turquoise ones) online from the German shop. I think they are really close to “real” Lanvin shoes and to me they feel quite comfortable despite the relatively high heel. I love the rhinestones on the heel:

Shoe Challenge No.35 / Inspiration Monday

After passing on last week’s Inspiration Monday (check out everybody else’s posts here) for lack of a tie anywhere in our house (my BF, whose ties I could have borrowed is unfortunately half a world away in Japan) and also, to be honest, because menswear inspired style isn’t really my thing – I love girly fashion – I really wanted to take part again this week, with the beautiful Emma Stone, who combined a gorgeous black leather jacket with a summery dress, as inspiration:

And here’s what I made of it: I decided on a patterned dress, which I wore with a black faux-leather jacket, beige booties and a black bag (since I thought one more colour would be too much):

Inspiration Monday: Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore
Recently, I read about Inspiration Monday on the wonderful blog Not Just Another Mother in Heels which made me want to take part too! Inspiration Monday was started by the blog Two Birds. Each week, they post a photo of a celebrity, whose outfit the participants try to recreate (it doesn’t have to be the exact same, it just should be used as inspiration) with items out of their own wardrobe and post a picture of on their own blogs. I think this is a good opportunity to discover new ways to use and combine the things you own to create styles you haven’t worn before! So for this week, the inspiration photo is of Drew Barrymore, wearing jeans with a striped t-shirt and a khaki shirt, as well as grey heels and a hat. I really love this outfit – simple, but not boring at all! Also, I actually have very similar things – yay! So, even though I’m a day late in uploading (thanks, graduation thesis!), here you go:

最近Not Just Another Mother in Heelsと言うブログでInspiration Mondayについて読んで,参加したくなりました! 。。):

Flower embellished Wedges and Ballerinas by H&M

H&M flower embellished WedgesHow adorable are these flower embellished wedges by H&M? I personally prefer the light pink colour as they look more like summer but as the uppers are fabric the black ones could be more practical. Lately, I’m totally into wedges – they make walking on cobblestones so much easier! If you like the cute flowers but not the heels, these were also used on these sweet peeptoe ballerinas, which come in the same colour options.

H&M flower embellished BallerinasBoth  the wedges which retail for 39,95€ and  the ballerinas which cost 14,95€ are available at the H&M online store.

Which ones would you choose?

H&M Inclusive Collection: The shoes

A lot has been written already about the H&M Inclusive Collection and personally, I like as well the idea as also a lot of the clothes. But, what I got for myself (bringing my shoe count one up again……) are these shoes:

H&M Inclusive Collection ShoesI haven’t seen them on other blogs before, but I saw them in the H&M Magazine and knew I had to have them! I guess these are a case of either “love them or hate them” and for me, it’s the former. They’re totally crazy, which is exactly what I love about them. Also, they are very light ( I was afraid they’d use some heavy material for the sole) and very comfortable to walk in, so I’m looking forward to the summer a bit more again! If you love them too and want to get a pair for yourself, they are available in the H&M webstore for 34,95€.
